Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
A lover's discussion

If Only

If only we could right the wrongs
that yesterday has wrought;
If only we could see beyond
the doubts that fears have taught--

I'd sing to you a song of love
that's written on my heart,
a melody that we both knew
before we grew apart.

If only you would grant my wish
and wipe away my tears,
I'd paint a picture on your soul
to last ten thousand years.

If we could change a minute here,
perchance a moment there,
then we could be the way we were --
love's quintessential pair.

I recently observed a couple who were obviously struggling. They were in a deep discussion and while I couldn't hear them, I felt a longing in their body language to restore their relationship. Since I have been there - done that - I hope they worked things out.
