You and Me

by pharp

Oh, you are... are you? Contest Winner

You are who you are
because of destiny

You are who you are because it was meant
To be...

You are the one who was always left out
You are the one that had fear and doubt
You are the one who was sad without a song
You were made to feel you didn't belong

You are who you are because it was meant
To be...

You are the one who was set apart
You were the recipient of a warm and kind heart
You are the one who endured much pain
You are the one who sustained yet never complained

You are who you are because it was meant
To be...

It was said you would turn out to be nothing
But because of who "I AM," you kept on trusting
You were strong because of a loving mother
You are who you are for you enjoy helping others

You are who you are for it was meant
To be...

You are no longer passive and you stand on God's word
You stand for truth and allow your voice to be heard
No longer do people take advantage of you
You are a child of God, and bid the old you adieu

You are who you are for it was preordained
To be.

The humor of it all,
now they depend on you and me!

Beginning at a very young age, I was informed that I was different by my siblings. I was called names and my self-esteem was very low. But Glory be to God, I had a loving mother who was always there for me no matter what anyone else said. The ones who taunted me and said I wouldn't amount to anything are the ones who depend on me to this very day. Everything I endured were meant to be, for it made me who I am today.

I can never catch my own errors, if there are any, please be so kind and bring to my attention. ThankYou
