Pride won't hold you up...
Remember...

Since the beginning of time, many great cultures and empires have risen and fall...why? Some characteristics most had in common. They became proud, thought they were invincible, (Hitler's Aryan race was one) Rome became lazy, decadent, low morals. Almost all believed their time was indefinite. The U.S. seems to have forgotten what made them great. It was built on high moral principles of godly virtue, hospitataliy, noble endeavour, the inscription on the Statue of Liberty "Send me your refuse.." they took in the persecuted, the people other countries didn't want, but now... Would you say the U.S. is faithful to its original creed...?
Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall." NIV.
Jeremiah 18:7 "At one moment I will speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, or to pull down, or to destroy it, if that nation against which I have spoken, turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I will bring against it. or at another moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to build up or to plant it." NIV
