Thoughts

by Jim Lorson Sr

Looking back on thoughts of my past
I notice the pall has been cast.
There are things I didn't recover from
which still leave me feeling quite numb.

The death of my father was very suffocating
and my breakdown at his funeral, was humiliating.
I lost my best friend and my life's mentor
left an emptiness in my heart, I couldn't ignore.

Two failed marriages, that did not bother me.
I loved neither of them, I did stupid things you see.
The first is the mother of my daughter and son,
and the second was basically about sex and fun.

At ages forty six and fifty six, I finally am a free man,
but unfortunately, prostate cancer wasn't in my plan.
Every year some new health issue, I've had to face.
I believe why I am alive is from God's healing grace.

I'm sixty seven, life and years has passed by so quick.
Most people who don't know me, do not know I am sick.
I take things as they come in my only way
and that is to smile and laugh each and everyday.

When the time does come for my life to be at an end.
For my family and friends my love and gratitude, I will send.
Then, I without fear will enter into the realm of forever,
for I will walk happily through those Gates to meet my Savior.

My prayer

Jesus, Savior of all mankind
Thanks be to You for my life
showing me the path for my
eternal salvation and protecting
my soul from the evil ways of Satan.

Praise be to You, Lord Jesus Christ

Amen
