Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
serenity waits as pain pauses on the shore.

Love's sixth sense.

by DALLAS01

The cutting edge
of
distrust
sharpens its scissors;
slicing and shredding

its way across
the fabric of
her suspicions.

Neon flashes--
sealed
behind closed eyes,
flutter in variegated hues
of lost love
while twisted words
tumble-
slowly slipping
through
the perforated lining
of her naivety.

Rotting in the shadows-
the stench
of deceit festers,
tweaking its talons
on
lascivious lies
revised in rehearsal.

Sirens scream-
begging her to awake,
to forsake
distorted fantasies;
tempting
her to taste
the
bittersweet reality
breaking on morn's shore.

Her gut's
final entreaty--
to entrust his deception
to the enticement
of the outgoing tide.
