Collateral Damage

by michaelcahill

Collateral Damage

I pledged undying love until my end
and watched as all my years passed ‘round the bend
but circumstance bought wounds I could not mend

you couldn’t heal the travesty of war
my love’s been tainted--hate’s demanding whore
