War Begins at Conception

they battle for the prize and swim
it is no whim
pure natures creed
survival’s need
 
the rule is only one will win
can’t try again
all others fail
the winner hail
 
in months a life is born to grow
what does it know
the seed’s been sown
seeks rule alone
