The Sacrifice

by tfawcus

Where is my dad, the man of war
I never saw,
who gave his life
in that great strife?

"The War to End All Wars", they said,
but he is dead
and still there's war,
just as before.

The old men said his sacrifice
was worth the price.
I think they lied,
but you decide.

Recognized

A work of fiction. My father was one of the lucky ones who survived the Great War, both in the trenches and in the Royal Flying Corps. Many did not.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
