Smoke and fire

by LIJ Red

It spun on a hub
made the load easy to bear
Wiley called it fire.

He loves us so much
He made the flames down below
seven times hotter.

She cried out my name
I went flying to my love
the stove was on fire.

The suite is three separate 5/7/5. The first is from the old comic strip, BC, in which the peglegged caveman Wiley called the wheel "fire". The second is a question, if the fires of Hell are seven times
hotter than any earthly fire, did the love of God kindle them? An aging co-worker had high hopes his wife was calling him in a romantic mood, but it was just the kitchen stove with a grease fire.
Thanks to Johnny Hart's BC, Apollos, and my old pal Herman W.
