The Joys Of Fatherhood.

My Boys

by Jonadab Ezerie

Yesterday I held them singing "Redemption Song,"
As I rocked them to sleep
Today all it takes is a hug and a kiss
Before they fall asleep
My diaper changing days are over
But I remember my frustration disappearing
After I looked at their innocent eyes as they spray me with pee
The radiant smile from my boys lifts my spirit in days of depression
As I feel the warm hugs and kisses from my boys
Reassuring their love for me.

I have heard and seen the older one trying to be the boss
Then I listened to the little one say, "You aren't the boss of me."
I have observed the uniqueness of their individuality
Which is portrayed by their characteristics and differences
One sucks his thumb, and the other sucks a pacifier
One likes to sleep with the lights off but the other with the lights on,
Yet they play, hug and sleep side by side irrespective of personal preferences.

My boys made me realize that;
The bonds of love are stronger than the bonds of blood
I am glad to be in their life today, In their memories now, and future
So that they will remember that I loved them
They keep bringing me much happiness and joyful tears
Oh yes, sometimes they get under my skin,
Make me so mad and lose my composure
So I go on my knees to pray to my MAN upstairs
I will hope for the best and prepare for the worst
As I continue to guide them to maturity
They are my precious gifts from Jah
And will always be my soldiers until the end of time.
