Family Suffering

What Am I To Do

by foxangie123

Yesterday there was new hope,
today out the door it'd float,
up and down then all around,
putting on then taking off my coat;

What am I to do,
something is way wrong with you,
I hate going home but have to,
please don't hate me as responsibilities there are due.

Your arms look like rope,
life dissolving in water like soap,
it is so very hard to cope,
don't wanna let go, nope, nope, nope,
if I had wings we'd take a ride,
both of us in the clouds together we would float.

What am I to do,
you are part of my family crew,
tell Amie hello from mom, all of us, if Heaven calls you to rest,
it is horrible watching your frail body stress,
please, sugar pie, know we love you without a single guess.

On a Fourth of July my daughter Amie was killed instantly in a car at the age of sixteen. Not to take anything from her or that, it is way different watching Douglas suffer at the hospital. The doctors asked me if I wanted them to do full CPR, full code, on him. They explained how horrific it would be as I knew from working in healthcare. What am I to say?
