Smells Delicious
Grandmas House
by country ranch writer
We always loved going to grams on the holidays. The smells of baking drifted all through the house. Grandmas asked us one day if we knew what making cookies made folks feel good about Christmas especially? We kinda hesitated and fidgeted a bit because we knew Gram was waiting for an answer.
Well, she said."let me tell you about back in the old days.People weren't so standoffish as they are today. Everyone was friendly and they helped each other when they could. The women folk would hold the county bake sales and exchange recipes and etc. Best of all it was time to gather everyone in town together. Kids all loved to help with the cookie making because they got to help cut them out and decorate them When they weren't eating them hot out of the oven."
Christmas was everyone's favorite time of the year. Grandma said she had a recipe for Holiday Joy. We told her we want to know what it was. She was prepared for our curiosity she reached in her apron pocket and pulled out a very worn piece of paper. She said her momma gave it to her one year.

and share all season
We told Gram her mom was very clever. She said okay you rascals lets go bake some cookies. Let's make monster cookies!
1 cup of brown sugar
1cup of unrefined sugar
1 TBS vanilla extract
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup butter softened
1 1/2 - cups peanut butter
5 cups of oats
2 cups of chocolate chips
Directions;
1. mix all the ingredients as listed on the list
2. form into tablespoon size balls and place on baking sheet
3. bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes
4. remove from the oven and let cool on the pan several minutes before placing on a wire rack to cool
5. eat and enjoy!
Very delicious with a large glass of cold milk or cocoa.
" These cookies are Santa's favorite. Mrs. Clause said makes sure to leave some. After his long cold night out delivering presents to all the good girls and boys. Loves to have them with a glass of milk before he sleeps."
My visits to Grandmas house was a special time in my life I sure do miss my Grandma she was always a comfort for me I could talk to her and Grandpa and they would always listen. Most Grandparents today are too busy with their own life to care. I loved their stories about how they grew up, how they met, and their whole life story. Maybe I will share some of those stories one day. This was a match made in heaven I learned so much from my grandparents. They knew just how to make you feel so loved and special in every way.
