THANKSGIVING Contest Winner
Grateful am I for the land of the free
Where I can worship my deity;
Indebted to servants sworn to save
Innocent, endangered, and not-so-brave.

Blessed with a soulmate I'm overjoyed!
For healthy children and staying employed;
For able body and mental play,
For Tolkien, Mozart, and Claude Monet.

For current events that power my home,
For indoor relief on the porcelain throne,
Hot showers, technology, soothing Earl Grey,
And the uncertain gift of one more day.

Current events refers to electricity--I was without power for a week one summer and remain eternally grateful to Ben Franklin.
