God Was There II

by patcelaw

There have been any number of times in my life when I could have died, yet I didn't. As a person of faith, I believe my life was spared by God for a purpose. Maybe, that purpose is to share with others the love of God and give praise to Him for his goodness to me. I suppose He might show me why, when I am with Him in Heaven.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With my twin brother
At the tender age of three
We took matches
And set the barn on fire
He and I both ran to safety.
God was there!
I went to the field to see
The new calf from our cow
She came after me and dad
Told me to fall on the ground
She missed me by inches.
God was there!
I fell eighteen feet
From a large tree
I landed flat on my stomach
Had nary a broken bone.
I am sure.
God was there!
A friend wading in the pond
Was in trouble
She could not swim
I overcame fear
To save her.
God was there!
I was given a drug
Then he raped me
Resulting in pregnancy
I don't remember
The rape, so I'm sure
God was there.
Family wanted me to abort
But I refused
Mom came into the room
Where I was asleep I awoke,
To mom holding a gun on me.
God was there.
I had an auto accident
Totaled my car
Was badly injured
Spent weeks
In hospital bed
God was there!
Had an illness
That was so severe
It could have taken my life
As it does many
Yet I lived
God was there!
