The future lies...

by royowen

The future lies in realms eternal,
exists unseen and unadorned;
Still to some remains nocturnal,
and yet in dreams its treasure's pawned.

The past, when loved, nostalgia lingers,
who walks that path dwells in its walls,
They'll tarry there in clasping fingers,
venture nowhere, till darkness calls.

Though nought will grow where nothing's planted,
where no seed's sown there'll be no yield.
If you rise on morrow granted,
then all you'll own's a fallow field.

Yet I'll be glad when sun is rising,
igniting dew in morning's light;
Subduing night its talons prising,
these mercies born in new day's sight.

So I will weave in ways eternal,
where Heaven's shores resist the tide.
I'll make my home in God's fraternal,
and I won't care when dreams have died.

Psalm 23:1-4,6 "The lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,
He makes me lie down in green pasteurs,
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul,
He leads me in paths of righteousness,
for His Name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me,
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
