Let me sit...

Empathy with Grief Contest Winner
Please let me sit beside you friend,
I'll stand and watch till journey's end.
I've seen your tears, I've watched them fall;
I'll share your pain, perceive its call.

They say that grief will ease with time,
For now these words aren't worth a dime.
If I could share the hurt you feel,
Its fruit I'd eat, this promise seal.

But I can only watch you cry,
I'll stay with you, till joy is nigh.
To weep with those, who, lost in grief,
I'll faithful be, to soul's relief.
