Bed Times With Nursery Rhymes

by Sueswrite

ABC-123.
Oh, mommy. Please don't leave me.

My nightly bedtime lullaby.
I laid still in my bed, and asked God, "why"?

Lullaby, on the tree top.
Each night I cried. Why won't daddy stop?

Jack and Jill, went up the hill.
I listen. He's close. He says to lay still.

Eeney-Meanie, Miney-Moe.
I didn't dare let anyone know.

I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down.
My little girl rhymes, scarred my face to a frown.

The itsy-bitsy spider, went up a water spout.
I hid that nasty secret, too afraid to shout.

Jack be nimble. Jack be quick.
Nobody noticed I was getting sick.

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe.
Grown up now, these words were all I knew.

These rhymes scream out, to me each night.
"Good Job", they say, as dawn brings light.

A warning, I hear, each and every day, "Don't ever forget me".
A reward, I'm given, each and every day, "PTSD".

My dear readers. First, and utmost, my sincere gratitude to you, for taking this time from your own life, to add a part of me, to it! I believe that there is no need to add notes to this poem as it visualizes all that was meant to be heard, or should I say, all that I meant to declutter from my mind at that moment. It is, just what it is.
I wish to acknowledge the artist for this perfect drawing that I chose to become the visual for my writing. As I scrolled through nearly 100 images, the instant I saw this girl, I felt she was me or I was her. Thank you Lilia.
