As I Sat and Read His Word

by sweetwoodjax

As I sat and read His word,
I heard a voice within my ear.
It's the sweetest I ever heard,
He said, "Dear child, please draw near."

He took me up to my Heavenly home.
I saw the beauty that it beheld.
A crystal river flowed to the throne.
I saw the scars left by the nails.

I saw my family that had gone on before.
I held them gently in my arms.
I danced with the Lord that I adore;
the One that saved me from all harm.

He said, "My child, it's not your time.
I just wanted you to know
that your new home will be sublime."
Tears upon my cheeks did flow.

For my heart had held some doubt
that Heaven was just a fairy tale.
I just cast that doubt right out.
I'll be His witness ; I will not fail.

I awoke within my chair.
I bent my head in silent prayer.
I have no doubt that I was there
and my heart I gladly bared.

I had the first two lines in my head ever since
church this morning and I just had to write it
down to see where it took me. Thank you to
