How Shall It Be?

by Just2Write

How shall it be, that final day
When I must pass and can’t delay
to meet Creation face to face;
and learn if I have earned a place
in Heaven where I hope to stay?

If with my final breath, I pray
that I shall wake and know the way
to lasting peace and Heaven’s grace -
How shall it be?

To those I love, I wish to say
life’s often full with disarray,
but live it well, in love’s embrace
and die it well, without disgrace.
When your time comes to pass away,
how shall it be?

I've have always been a big fan of the Rondeau, a French poetry form, form 15 lines long, consisting of 3 stanzas;
A quintet, (five lines) A quatrain (four lines) and a sextet (six lines)

The rhyme scheme is aabba aabR, aabbaR. The meter is generally iambic Tetrameter, but other meters such as iambic Pentameter have been used.

The refrain R is usually 4 syllables and is found in the beginning of the 1st line and is repeated at the end of the other two stanzas.
A classic Rondeau is: In Flander's Field, by John McRae (iambic Tetrameter)

My sincere gratitude for the use of the spectacular graphic:
