Broken Puppet?

by sweetwoodjax

I am no longer your puppet,
being pulled in the direction
you would have me go.

I am no longer your partner,
dancing imprisoned in your arms,
following your lead.

I am no longer your sounding board,
only needing to bounce harsh
words against with no whispers of love.

I am free, free to choose
and free to roam, dancing my
own dance in a solo performance.

You can no longer bend me
to your will or mark me as
yours with your invisible shackles.

My bruised heart will heal
and I will find love in its
truest form. For what we shared
was not love; it was ownership.

Others may wish to be your
puppet, but I shall revel in the
strings that no longer tie me to you.

Thank you to avmurray for the picture.

When women are in an abusive relationship, they are often
viewed by others to be a puppet at their love's command.
This is for the ones that broke free.
