Keep Me From Being Full Of Myself

Keep Me From Being Full Of Myself

Lord, keep me
from being so full of myself
that my heart can't be touched
by the hurts of others.
Help me feel what they are feeling.
Help me Lord, come to them
as they are struggling.
May I help them with problems
they can't carry alone.
Help me be a source of encouragement
so they don't find themselves,
desperate and give up on life,
finding they have come to a point
they must take their own life.
Help me Lord,
to bring hope to a hurting soul.

After being touched by several suicides of people I have known, some quite young, this is my prayer to the Lord, to keep me alert to see another person who is hurting. I don't want to be so caught up in my own cares that I forget there are those who are hurting in this world.
