Blank Verse-Terrestrial Trip

by IndianaIrish

I wish we could escape and run away
to worlds beyond our barricaded walls.
Please grab my hand and hold on tight, my sweet,
we'll ride the roller coaster to the sky.

Adventures will commence beyond the clouds,
and first stop will be August's bright full moon.
It's there we'll join the man for cheese and wine,
some laughter, fun before our moving on.

We'll take a tour of galaxy delights
and dance the astral waltz on Saturn's rings.
On Mars, we'll paint ourselves with crimson dust,
pretending to be Martian aliens.

Across the Milky Way we'll zip and zag
to visit Venus, brighter than all stars.
The planet named for love, need I say more?

I hope our cosmic journey never ends,
we'll rock and roll along our universe.
Afloat among the twinkling stars, and as
we drift and play, the reason for the trip
is clear ... to see the light in your eyes glow.

Blank Verse Contest contest entry

Ray, thank you so much for sponsoring this contest and for your invaluable help, guidance, and encouragement to assist all the contestants in the writing of blank verse poetry. You have sacrificed so many hours to review each submission and have given us the opportunity to adjust our poems to make them compliant to the blank verse rules. It's an honor to write a poem knowing I followed the rules as they should be. Oh ... and I don't want to write like Shakespeare and bend the rules! Thank you.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
