When Baby Sophia was born my heart beamed and glowed
Feeling so proud and in love my tears obviously flowed
Fresh from Heaven so perfect with little curls atop her head
I stood silently watching her dream in her small hospital bed

Once at home with Sophia our lives changed so very much
Every time she cried I hurried to hold her and feel her soft touch
Sophia was always happy especially in her mommys arms
Feeling so lucky and blessed by Sophia she was Oma's charm

With two diseases Sophia made me feel like I could stand tall
In my grasp I wanted to show her off proudly to one and all
All babies are beautiful and special but Sophia was more to me
She gave me more reasons wanting to live a long time you see

This day in particular would now change our lives once again
Beyond our wildest dreams not one of us knew where to begin
On Sophia's 24th day of life her mommy laid her down to sleep
Moments later all I heard were screams and I began to weep

In Heaven she'd wake alone without her family full of dreams and love
Almost as if her wings spread so wide to fly along side the beautiful doves
Full of innocence and purity Baby Sophia now sits on the lap of our Lord
I just know all Angels above smile sweetly at her and even lovingly adore

No time to say goodbye to our Sophia still so fresh and Heaven sent
Each of our hearts are broken beyond repair leaving behind a large dent
I know from above she can still feel our love and see our eyes full of tears
One day we'll meet again in a place far away I promise you that my sweet dear



No time for goodbyes but....
We'll have an eternity for hellos

Because your OMA wanted to grow old watching you grow up

Instead now I'm left with just growing old....
