Boys, Blankets, and Bombs

by victortouche

A blanket and...
a toss
of lockets in the air.

My smile unaware,
time only stared.
A picnic and the wool
that settled in
so square.

She moves...
ballet on blanket
and me in love at last
with coveralls
and attitude,
a rebel tone to cast.

But don't
roll up the blanket,
don't carry it
and talk,

your politics won't fly
with war planes
in the sky.

Play upon your blanket
until sky is rolled within,
and pack it for the picnic
you'll have with her again.

Ain't never seen reflection
so true upon a face.

A baseball glove was traded
for the M-16 he knew
he just had to get to know.

Packets for your pockets
bought thighs before they go,
and planes with destinations
down Hanoi Rocket Row.
