Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
trying to move on.

Can I?

by Sandra Stoner-Mitchell

I wasn't very happy in the year that has gone by,
It started very badly and I know the reason why.
But sometimes we are tested just to see how we will cope
And I know I failed miserably, at times I gave up hope.

Now, this year I have told myself get up and move along,
Nobody wants to listen to that same old worn out song.
There are so many just like me, upset and hurting bad.
And I should just be grateful that I'd had my mum and dad.

This year I will go forward, just a little at a time,
So this time next year I can say, okay, I'm doing fine.
I'll still talk to my mum and dad as if they are still here,
Because I know deep in my heart that both of them are near.

I know my parents would be cross with me if I didn't at least try moving on. They loved life, and that is how I must remember them. It isn't easy though, as many of you already know.
