Things that please

Now nearly everyone agrees
on things in life that really please:
a hammock strung between two trees
to catch the soothing summer breeze,
and little girls in dungarees
(or bigger ones in lingeries!);
The Pyrenees,
The Hebrides,
to sit with Grandma shelling peas.

To feel by gradual degrees
that spring is coming - mind those bees!
And watch out for your allergies
that make you sniffle, snort and sneeze.
A row of pawns (the infantries)
that bring the Queen down to her knees;
there's toasted cheese
and seven seas
and jokes about Euripides.

Good things that always come in threes
like kisses, cuddles, cups of teas,
and acrobats on high trapeze
or dewy spider filigrees.
When I have reached my seventies
there's little bursts of energies,
there's pekinese,
patisseries,
delight in witty repartees.

There's life and love and liberties,
a warming hand to give a squeeze
and 'if I were' hypotheses.
There's Sunday afternoons at ease
with her you love. You know that she's
the sweetest of confection'ries.
There's 'You must sees'
and bumblebees
and many many more like these.

A Monorhyme is a poem in which all the lines have the same end rhyme.

I have used a few words in the plural that wouldn't normally be seen this way e.g. infantries and repartees. This is deliberate to increase the sense of fun and slight silliness about the whole piece. Please don't bother to 'correct' these poetic licencees!
