Reality Check (check's in the mail)

by starkat

memories
of perfumed gardens
cascading waterfalls
starlit skies
candlelight dinners
fine wine
and you

time for a cold shower

reality check -

government taxing cow farts
won't stop global warming
or fool Mother Nature
still grieving over
dead pet dinosaurs
Ice Ages ago

nothing to get hung about

higher beef and milk prices
will hurt your pocketbook
but help fat cat bureaucrats
pay for golf and more vacations
(check's in the mail)

don't be afraid
as we hold hands
to walk through the fun house mirrors
where distorted images bend and twist
snapshots of unreality
not ready for posting
on the internet

bring a warm coat and gloves
as we ride the big roller coaster
around the world in eighty days
pausing on Mount Everest
to make snow angels
and take selfies

reality check -

a cup of hot chocolate
will brighten your day
as you prepare to brave
heavy snowdrifts
to find and kiss
your pet cows
and tell them
not to worry ... (check's in the mail)
