Because we dream improbable,
unnecessary, gorgeous things
our hearts applaud invention when
"imagine if . . ." unfurls its wings.

Because we know the world's not flat
but peak- filled, those who care to climb,
hike hill and dale, seek seas to sail,
believe that reason need not rhyme.

Because we can appreciate
that even folly has its use
we celebrate skilled magic where
absurdity needs no excuse.

Because we need to leave our mark
artistes with bold, beguiling strokes
brush cobwebs from our mind's eye by
embracing what their muse evokes.

Because we are not satisfied
existing with what is and was,
we mingle both with might-bes to
create things crafted, "just because."
