A child scared of the closet monster.

Excuse me mister monster.

A child's poem Contest Winner
excuse me Mister Monster
behind my closet door
I'm ever oh so scared of you
my gosh I'm only four

Mom and Dad say you're not real
but you and I know better
I've done all that I know to do
I even wrote Jesus a letter

I know my words don't look the same
as those bigger than I
but I think he understands them
and I know he's seen me cry

you're in big, big trouble now
for I know he'll send you away
all that'll be left in my closet
are the toys with which I play

I was inspired to write this piece for a co-worker as she stated her concerns about her young son's fear of the closet monster. She took a copy and read it to him every night before bedtime and his fear was relieved.
