When I Was Young

by Walter L. Jones

She sat on my book as pure as a naked beauty would allow
Picking out a melody on her guitar
Waiting for my lyric to find her heart and soul

Lite bends as high
Like a kite carrying a tune
Burn the welding stone
Nothing but home
It just right
Long time
Into the dark of soul
Travel a rocket
Sold in bold colors
It going to be
Longer than time
No no cut the bind
Draw the bling's
Light chases my eyes
Tried the cold
Just like hell
Leads into touch
And feel
Steal the moonlight
Weep in a street full
Goal meets
Pure inside of
Gone again
Bottle crashes against the wall
And I think it's going to be
Longer than long
Perfect our song

Stage is empty now
lights turn silence glow
Joan kisses me goodnight
Candle out
Bottle empty
So is my soul
