Stage

Children's Show

by Walter L. Jones

Poor in knowledge of the arts and the dollars to view. The college of the arts
invited children from the lower class to view and enjoy their mastery at
Christmas. It was this way I became familiar with the Nutcracker, and A
Christmas Carol. I was transformed into a place shared with wonderful players on a stage. It was here
I learned to love the imagination of music and dance.

See they are not worthy nor will they understand this total sophistication

Soldiers come marching in the wind of song and common man sings along
We watch as memory of time linger in the minus part of cold hearts left in
Silver shadows bring back a ballet loved by children allowed to dream class
Nutcracker gives a window to view blue blood loves shared with urchin lower

Voices play in perfect pitch of combination sound stage laid open to all

Classic gentry speak to the masses saving the arts with pennies, nickels and dimes
Children sleep the arms of beauty savored a way intended by absorption of love
Music blended in perfection with flow and dance art mixed to image spent freely
Grace bend the rays of hope and dreams spent in perfection of shadow real

Poor church mouse spills forth in the call of the world of all artistic perfection

Light of dark and gray mix to the story of environment and nature time stands still
Imagination takes it toll as the mind plays games somewhere between need and want
Body seeks the music to take the beast and allow love to win with lilt growing
Eyes wide upon view of all the mind control displayed by the artist poor but loved

So many hearts lost to the wonder perfected to please the child in every soulful sound

Love prevails over evil once upon a time in wonder of grace and pain left to hide
Art is invisible to the child who sees only grace floating across the stage in light
Sophisticated blend of music and image control maintained to perfection spent
Child finds eye captivation in the blend of all that is real and loved for me seen

Toes bleed and hose is stained to meet the demand of art leg cramps and pain equal love shared
