The long days of winter

Winter's Icy Breath

by LateBloomer

The icy breath of winter blows once more
As silken flakes of snow descend the Earth
And fall upon the mountaintops once green
Then glaze the fields where flowers soundly sleep

But while the snow will glisten in the sun
The throbbing of my heart will surely slow
And as the days grow dark with emptiness
The frosty air of winter bites again

And like the bud beneath the snow of white
I wait with warming thoughts of sunny days
