The Girl In The Window

by JPilcher

As she stared out that window, her hopes as present as he was himself,
That girl she made a promise, which until now, she had kept to herself.

That girl in the window, she swore that when she grew up,
She’d never be the person who just did not show up.

And as that little girl grew her tears turned to anger, and that grew too.
But that never did stop her, regardless whom she made that promise to.

Because that little girl in the window, she swore when she grew up,
She’d never be that person, who just did not show up.

But when she grew up, that person was somewhat like she still
Turned out to be, 'cause despite the fact I've still yet to not
Show up along the way I somehow forgot about me.

But that little girl in the window, she swore when she grew up,
She’d never be that person, who just did not show up.

I spent so much time being angry, that I made it impossible to see,
That the man I was so angry at, couldn't even show up for himself
- Yet I expected him to still show up for me.
