Driving

A Pale Horse

by Walter L. Jones

AN HOUR AWAY FROM NOWHERE
BOUNCED ANOTHER DREAM DOWN
WISHES ON A ROAD
SLAM IT DOWN
GEARS TALK
ANOTHER TOWN

IMAGES OF A LIFE
FLY LIKE CINDER
SLAP THE BACK
LET'S PRETEND
SHE PULLS MY SOUL

FLIP THE RADIO
TO I USED TO KNOW
GRAB A HAND FUL OF SOMETHING
MOVE BACK
A HUNDRED AND TEN
BLACK AS COAL

YOUNGER THAN
DIRT ROADS
HUNDRED FROM NO WHERE
SHE DON'T CARE
JUST WANTS A RIDE

COFFEE BLACK
SACK OF GRUB
INTERSTATE GUIDE
LONELY NIGHTS
JUST NO WHERE

Back slap, drugs, over the road like life, just going, table of from no where to no where and back again, accomplishments, just bumps in the road filled with alone again and mistakes taken and given.
