A response to newspaper write-up on raccoons raiding garbage

Family of Five

I know I've been warned by most.
"Don't feed those damn raccoons,
you're not their private host!"

But no one can see the face
of the one peeking through the door
or scampering up to my space
asking for more, more, more.

I know I've been told by most,
but I'd rather have their chaotic times
than wondering if they're now a ghost.

I read an article in the papers about the raccoons raiding the garbage cans. I know how hungry they get, cause I see them.
