God's Grace

by RodG

"We'll lose the farm if it don't--!"

"Pray, Anna. That's all we kin do."

They prayed . . . all night long.

Next morning in his fields Ethan watched huge thunderheads charging eastward like Pharaoh's chariots. Too fast he feared. Would they pass again, dropping nary a speck of rain on his parched fields?

A fat drop slapped his face. Then more . . . and suddenly . . . a deluge . . . battering the wilted stalks as streams swelled through the furrows. Blessed life-restoring rains!

The farmer dropped to his knees in the mud and lifted his weathered face skyward.

"Oh, Gracious Lord, thank you . . . thank you!"
