Screams echoed through the cavern, disturbing the lull that preceded Wolf's rage, as Orion's Ch'hogs' laid waste to the starved slaves and Zandrogs.

In contrast, the quiet haunting hum of the Q'ran created a resonance likened to a swarm of bees in the distance. They stood tall as they marched in precise ranks, stretching from one side of the cavern to the other. The leaves on the branches that protruded from their gnarled heads, rustled as their roots slapped the uneven ground like the sound of a thousand whips.

Oolio raised his long, sinewed arms of twisted branches, and  stopped. His warriors came to a halt and stood s
ilent, straight and tall.

"We are Q'ran. We are custodians of the Sacred Mountain and the warriors of Sarandor'Q." He spoke with composure. "You, the war mongers of Orion, are trespassing and stealing the precious essence of Gaia."

"Be gone Oolio of Sarandor'Q and take your forest with you." The gravelly voice of the devil bellowed out. "You have no purpose here."

"You are infiltrators and perpetrators of Planet Earth." Oolio pounded the blunt end of his spear on the ground three times, as he spoke, "You have violated the laws of creation."

"Xag!" Solace roared. "So you've come out of hiding, have you?"

"Where I have been is no business of yours -- panther."

"You've been doing your homework for once or is Orion getting nervous, and giving you ammunition to shoot at me?"

Striding through the path the Q'ran had opened between their lines, Solace marched past Oolio and stood directly in front of Xag, his archenemy. His palm itched to unsheathe his jaska, as he caressed the bronze hilt. His eyes bored into Xag's black orbs.

Behind Xag, the Zandrogs and slaves scurried to the far end of the cavern. Gold nuggets toppled from overloaded buckets that were still swinging from the arms of the robots.

Sianna'Q observed the countless, restless Ch'hog warriors standing a few metres away from him. Compounded by the force that was about to explode, a quiet eeriness added to the tenseness of the warriors. Sianna'Q sensed the power radiating from their impatience to engage in battle.

"So your second in command has deserted you. Has the wolf taken flight within the Erteisian forest? More to the point, has he conquered his need to seek revenge now that his Sarandor'Q maiden -- I rephrase that comment -- concubine, has been stripped of her life force?"

"Why don't you ask me that - you crawling parasite!"

Zenak strode with a powerful gait, his long pale blue hair held in a curved, bronze amulet, stood out amidst the black hair of the Ch'hogs. His dark eyes were fixed on his target.

"Ah! So the warrior returns." Xag taunted.

Zenak skulked stealthily, the wolf in him focusing on his prey. He noted that Xag's fingers were twitching along with the tip of his monstrous tail.

The deep frown above his slanted eyes, and the malicious smile on his wolverine face, as he focused on Xag, alerted Solace.

'Zenak!'

'Don't Solace, I warn you -- he's mine!' He roared.

Sianna'Q held onto her mate. 'Let him be - It's for Shaelana, and we'll be in battle soon enough.' She raised her arms and gave the signal for the warriors to retreat a few paces.

Xag stood like a statue, but Sianna'Q noticed the fear emanating from him.

I hope Zenak has this planned in his mind. Why haven't the Ch'hogs retreated? I don't like this at all!

Legs astride and standing in front of his archenemy, his hand itched to extract the jaska from its sheath. His long fingers stroked the gilt carving on the handle that personified him. His voice was forceful and sinister.

"Finally I have you where I want you -- I wish Shaelana was here to see you squirm like the beast you are." He spat the words out with hatred embedded in every sound. "Nothing to say Xag, Orion got your tongue?"

"I have nothing to say to a shape-shifter who cannot remain to finish a fight!"

"You mean like this..." Zenak disappeared. "How does it feel to have your nemesis behind your back?"

With a sudden turn, Xag faced his enemy. His black bulging eyes glinted red in his gnarled head. His reptilian lips curled up exposing his long sharp teeth as a gurgling noise rattled in his throat.

They circled each other, eyes locked, each with his hand ready to draw his weapon when least expected. Xag's thick-scaled reptilian tail swished backwards and forwards as if waiting for the right moment to strike.

Zenak leapt into the air with his jaska gripped in both hands. "ZYRISTAGA!" A loud roar echoed through the cavern as the Sarandor'Q joined him in the war cry. "ZYRISTAGA!"

He circled Xag, flying high and sweeping low, taunting him into a challenge.

Sianna'Q waited for Xag to gather his wits. Xag's eyes are on Zenak. I have an open window -- I can take him out if I act fast.

Oh no you don't. This isn't your fight, stay out of it! Solace grabbed her around the waist and held her captive. Stay still. That's an order!

Circling high and dropping fast, Zenak skimmed Xag's head, causing an up draft that lifted Xag's long, black hair. If I'm fast enough I'll grab him by his hair and the force will yank his scalp from his head, or better still, his head from his shoulders.

He turned with speed and in that moment, he watched his nemesis fly over the heads of the Q'ran and Sarandor'Q like an arrow zipping through the air.

'He's heading for the tunnel, Solace! I'm following...'

The pounding of feet on the rocky ground stirred the warriors into attack. Anger and resentment urged the Ch'hogs forward as the Sarandor'Q met them full force. Blade against blade echoed through the mountain.

Sianna'Q noted the eagerness of the warriors as they shed their Ch'hog disguise, after many moons of slavery in the caverns. Now they revelled in the slaughter of Xag's army.

Somehow, she found herself in the centre of the melee. As she swung around, her Jaska sliced and jabbed the ferocious lizards, spilling their green blood in all directions.

Swiftly she turned. The bulging eyes of a huge warrior, with its jaws open and needle-sharp fangs dripping with green drool, stared her in the face. Its tongue flicked in and out like an anteater looking to catch its prey.

Her instincts took over as she sliced into the scaly body, between the thick, wrinkled neck and muscular shoulder. The guttural roar of pain was horrendous, as she severed through his ligaments and muscles. He was at her mercy. His arm hung limp at his side as green blood pumped from the wound.

I've hit an artery -- he's helpless and bleeding like the pig that he is.

He slumped over, almost knocking her off balance. With the strength of a Taurean bull, she lashed out with her body and knocked the beast to the ground, taking another Ch'hog with him.

As the Sarandor'Q used their instinctive powers of shadow to defeat the enemy, she was aware that some of their warriors had fallen. Anger and hatred for Xag's cowardly actions was nothing compared to the raging fire that was building and burning inside her belly, for Orion. Unaware of the splatters of green and red blood that flew into her face and over her body, she fought on, caught in a frenzy of madness. She barely heard the voice in her mind; it seemed far away in the distance.

'Sianna'Q, I can't see you. Take care!' Solace knew she was headstrong and risked her life many times for her friends and warriors. Sianna'Q... he aimed directly for her inner being, disengage now! That is an order!

Solace, I'm grounded -- I can't fly!

Fight your way to the edge. Oolio and the Q'ran are forming a boundary and closing the circle.

She battled her way through the skirmish thrusting her jaska and dagger in all directions, into whatever or whoever got in her way. Her head felt heavy, her mind foggy as the cavern began to spin. I'm overpowered Solace.

"Grab the female!" The voice boomed through the mountain, reverberating through the tunnels and caverns. Warriors on both sides ceased their battle as the mountain shuddered, throwing them into chaos.

"Orion -- you touch her and all heaven and beyond will scourge you beyond your concept of existence!" Solace thrust his way through the skirmish, ripping through the Ch'hogs, barely missing his own warriors.
