Rover Rescued Me

by Quire's Gal

I have this pet

a perfectly calculated creature
with forty-odd fingers
and some left to spare

he is my looking glass to see
rotating galaxies at the core
or
electrons in flight

his molton-lava
paws
like  lover's hands
massage my follies
and juggle my
sins

 his never-ending gait
walks me to the
edge of creation
and back  to
habor
home

his  tail streams
light streams
like
miles of Christmas colors
splitting my darkness
till I explode
with light

his bark is
soprano-sweet
like fresh-faced children's choirs
singing me lullaby band-aids
to heal
my
war-torn
brain

his  chiseled eye
cuts deep into my center
sculpting  my truth

yet
in their reflection
I see my beauty

 his back  is the
magic mortar
on which I base
my pyramid

strong enough
to bear he weight of depression
or
balance the
angel's breath

And his temperament...

flesh-tone neutral

like Zen-savvy
guru monks that
shepherd my dogma
through the valley of
troubled
brows

Rover rescued me.

And  with
helium-filled
laughter
 lifts me upward
till space bends back again...

so I don't have to wait for a bus.
