Visit old place

Old Place

by Walter L. Jones

Drifting in hues
Blue of life
Grabs at the want
Need left
A new calf
Half in golden glow
Slow to wean
Drift of time
Soft life's whine

School demands
Stand alone in feild
Calf gone
Dollars needed
Slaughter house
Tough to grow

Wind blows hard
Slow and old
Field needs to be plowed
Wet winter two weeks late
Seed at high end
Sherriff claims just his job
Won't vote for him again

Count the stars
Work in the shop
Dad on the tractor
Pay the due
Hold the memory
Nothing I can't do

Drifting in hues
Blue of life
Grabs at the want
Need left
Bullheads skinned
Cracking in the pan
Old but home
Wife puts up her
Nose
I just smile
