Trip

Point

by Walter L. Jones

Watched the sun set
Wonder how
I got here
Slapped the clip
Sniper graced my helmet

Once I was trouble
Looking for nothing more than
A bridge to burn

Heart on a sleeve of memories
Sights trained on death
Rash in the
Crash burn and die

Bottle tipped
Bottom gone
Sing your song
Damned fool

Now a crippled mind
Song sung and left
Patience gathered
Ashes in hues

Once a silence filled the land
Some cry
Most pray
Just another day
In the hood

Flame thrower
Stench of flesh
All around
us
