Struggling with pain and the reality of life.
Existing Only in a Shell
by Dklrdmcches
Nearing the end of my existence, The Shards of Life,
Knocks on the soul of my being, entering without an invite. Shaking from exhaustion, I allow the reaper in, all is lost. Once in control of life, now, existing only in a shell. Longing for the high only given by the powder of snow, I stumble through the actions that are a regular part of life. As the reaper watches, I execute the motions as I fall from grace. Once in control of life, now, existing only in a shell. The once radiant skin tone , now, a painful shade of pasty white. A struggling heart pumps what is left of life through the cracked shell. Why, oh why, must I exist in pain, life has failed another soul. Once in control of life, now, existing only in a shell. As my life support slowly falters, I rest my head on a soft pillow. Closing my eyes one last time, I think of those that have left me. The reaper slowly covers me with a blanket of black roses. Once in control of life, now, existing only in a shell. |
