Based around a true event
Bitten by Bear
by PhilipCatshill
Now in Britain, bears are few
Except the Teddy sort So here's a story just for you And a lesson to be taught We went to see the animals When my baby was just two Ursine and marsupials Caged in the local zoo. This was forty years ago With cubs of a black bear, And their caging did allow A child to put a hand in there. Though what I thought was stranger Kids fed bears with chocolate drop Too late I saw the danger And yelled my child to stop But like the other children Her hand was through the bars And that bear's bite was deep an' She'll always bear the scars. We took her to the first aid hut An ambulance was called She had stitches in the cut With her finger badly mauled. The zoo pointed to the sign They quickly had erected Alleging that the fault was mine And a lawsuit they deflected. When she is asked about the scar No one believes, but it is true If she answers, "Bitten by bear, When I was only two." |
