My Big Green Friend
by adewpearl
I thought my life was in control till right before my eyes did stroll a creature few have ever seen with purple feet and scales of green, that covered seven yards of skin below two lips that formed a grin, which showed two sets of jagged teeth, one group of nine with ten beneath. My own teeth chattered at the sight -- my eyes were bugging out with fright, but just as things were looking glum, I saw the creature chewing gum! He wasn't biting off a limb of someone who had bothered him, but blowing bubbles big and small -- not very frightful, not at all. Then when he made a bubble pop, I saw him take a backward hop. His lips that once had formed a grin now looked like they might soon begin to quiver in a startled cry. He'd scared himself, this big green guy. "Don't be afraid," I shouted out. "There is no need to run or pout. It's just a bubble, nothing more -- just blow another three or four." And that is how we came to be, the best of friends you'll ever see. |
