A dark day
Broken Glass
by belinda45
So many shards of broken glass;
Faces lost behind their masks. The pain swelling deep within Kaleidescopes with horrid din To shift and morph within itself, All the while, denying help From those whose hands extend To pull you from the pit within. The life you gave was so much more Than all the poetic, creative lore. I sing a song of silent plea For you who would not choose to flee Such horrid loss, pain, distress; The ugly truth could not confess. And now there is no hallowed prose To silence all that darkness knows. You've gone away to sleep in death. My heart will grieve your broken glass. |

Written after receiving word of a domestic violence homicide which I had feared would surely come.
