A Soldier Story
by Lulube
There are silent pools of love
Flooding across His already full heart As he stares Mezmerized Into this tiny face For the first time In both their lives His body quivers At his attempts To restrain His uncontrolled Inner dam of love A trickle falls From the corner Of his eyes His eyes searching The room over for A tear dropping aide Rapid blinking Proving unsuccessful As the force Of a tidal tear Streamed down his cheeks He watched his tears Drip off of His bottom jaw bone Landing Ever so softly On perfect tiny lips Still he cradles His tiny offspring He stands silently No words Are pushing Through his lips He's bewildered With their first encounter Yesterday was death in war Today he came home And met his 10 lbs. baby boy |
