Free Verse
You Bring Out Me
You bring out the Leo in me
the lion with a golden mane
strong and brave
not afraid to roar to protect
those I care about or
when injustices are perceived
You bring out the gentleness in me
the velvety feel
of the petals
on a perfect peach rose in June
You bring out the fire in me
the flowing lava from a volcano
whose heat I can feel
when passionate about a cause
You bring out the sassiness in me
the tangy, ice cold lemonade
tantalizing taste buds
on a hot summer day
You bring out the darkness in me
the depression that creeps in
like a dark sky as a
storm interrupts an otherwise
sunny day
You bring out the reflection in me
the silver mirror with the
golden etched butterflies
showing my bare soul
in my search for
absolute authenticity
You bring out the hardness in me
the weathered concrete
on the path of life
the unbending strength
I have when determined
to accomplish a difficult task
You bring out the pain in me
the wolf seeking comfort
whimpering while licking its wounds
You bring out the spice in me
the tequila, salt and lemon
a variety of interests provides
You bring out the wonder in me
the first daffodil of spring to open
beside a melting drift of snow
You bring out the nurturing in me
the mother beagle watching closely
over her newborn pups
eyes just starting to open
giving them nourishment
to foster growth
You bring out the fear in me
the animal seeking shelter
during a severe thunderstorm
quivering as the lightning strikes
You bring out the playfulness in me
the bunny rabbits playing
in the fresh cut grass
romping and hopping carefree
You bring out the willow in me
the well rooted tree
flexible but strong
withstanding the
variable winds of time
