A rush of tears surprise
they are not sad...crazy...or half-way to keening
they do not scald my cheeks
nor leave me bereft
these are good tears
tears to save and to savor

If i could save these good tears
i would collect them in my toothbrush glass
like gifts of morning sun
string them with sun-blazed fiery opals
ask only that when you secure this necklace
of tears and opals at my throat
please remember to leave a trail of winged kisses
to warm my winter-chilled skin
