Adam`s fall in the Garden of Eden

Adam (A Fall From Grace)

by Idamarty

I am man, formed from the earth
in the likeness of the most high
almighty and ever living God
who created all things.
I am Adam, His most precious masterpiece.

In disobedience I turned away from Him,
hearkening to the voice of the deceiver;
the original Prometheus
who would make me an effigy
of his own fallen self.

I took an ego trip,
believing, wanting to be like my maker,
perhaps greater.

As the prince of darkness spoke,
his twisted words slithered around Eve`s heart
spreading seeds of doubt within our souls.
I did not recoil, instead I chose
to have my eyes opened.

Now I lay naked, exposed to myself, tainted,
blinded by his lies; a forgery of the divine image,
destined to become the dust from whence I came.
Remembered for only a moment, by the wind
that will scatter any memory of me across the earth.

My Father banished me from the garden.
Left me to the fruits of my own labour.
The price to pay for my defiance.

Now we inhabit a world shrouded in sin and corruption.
Has paradise become lost?
There are glimpses of what once was,
if you look past the concrete and steel,
past the hardened hearts,
past ourselves.

There is a light; radiant and resplendent
in all of His glory.
He came to pay the ultimate price
for our transgressions.
He is the sacrificial Lamb.

We are the lost sheep, He is our Shepherd.
We are the fallen, He is our Savior.
We were condemned to die,
He is the way to eternal life.
For He is truth.
He is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

This poem was written as my take on Adam as he falls from grace in the garden. Eve is mentioned only once intentionally as I wanted to focus on Adam.
