The Old Man OnThe Top Floor

by Eric Corsten

The Old Man On The Top Floor

Here's a tale of a boy named Zables
He widdles and fiddles, dibbles and dables.
He'll tell you the story of an old man upstairs.
He claims it's true, Scout's honour he swears....

Every Wednsday and Sunday we like to play.
I had nothing to do and did nothing all day.
I walked downstairs and through the front door,
A man yelled at me from the top floor.

He said, "How is it you be, and how is it you do?
The name is Ron, but to you, Mr. Biggledeboo.
You did nothing all day and have nothing to do,
So won't you come in to have some Biggelde stew?"

I said, "I live in the town of Biggeldeboo.
How could that be you and be the town too?
Everything seems to be very unclear.
Where is it you come from and why are you here?"

He said, " I was young and just passing through.
I heard a voice shout, it was very loud too.
The dust flew as the wind blew.
And then he appeared, a genie named Lou."

He had silver hair, his two teeth were gold.
His feet were dark green, and covered in mold.
His ears were purple, his nose was light blue.
He had a tattoo that said, One -Two -Ske-doo.

I wanted to know if he would grant me a wish.
He said,"No, I won't do that but I'll cook you a dish.
I want you to build the town of Biggeldeboo
After we eat I'll have a few gifts for you."

"One magic hammer you control with your mind.
And a big case that will store all you find?
Take some nails, and some glue.
You better get started, Mr. Biggeldeboo."

I started right in with my hammer and glue.
If it wasn't one thing, twas another to do.
I built houses for the people to live.
Built toys for the kids...to them I would give.

I built a store, for the people to shop.
And a dance floor, for the people to bop.
Built churches, clinics a fire station too.
a farm for the pigs, and the cows that go "moo."
I built a museum, I built them a zoo.
And that's how I built the town of Biggeldeboo.

I didn't believe the man and what he said.
There are no genies, what's wrong with his head?
He said, "Don't ask me, if you want a wish.
I won't do that but I'll cook you a dish.
I want you to build the town of Zabaldezoo
After we eat I'll  have a few gifts for you."

"One magic hammer you control with your mind.
And a big case that will store all you find.
Take some nails and take some glue.
Now start your own town, call it Zabaldezoo."

I said, "OK OK!! I do believe now.
I don't want this job ... Don't even want to know how.
I want to be happy and filled up with joy
For crying out loud, I'm just a young boy."

As this tale ends, I'm sure that you'll find.
If building a town, it should be one of a kind.
One can be happy if they know the score.
Can't top that old man that's the top floor.

The End
