Off to school that chilly fall day
Planning to meet friends along the way
The little blonde girl with a smile so bright
Skipping and singing in the early dawn light

An Amber Alert started with beeps so loud
Getting the attention of many as they formed a crowd
A child is missing and we don't know where to start
The police feared a predator pretending to be smart

That was the day it all turned to fright
People began searching from morning to night
Sweet lil' Jessica never made it to her class
Fear, prayers and strength the search was a mass

It was called an abduction to say the least
The entire community was far from at peace
Her Mommy and Daddy cried to just let her go free
While the community hung purple ribbons on the fall colored trees

The search continued with no Jessica insight
Still searching and praying all day and night
FBI and Police giving updates all about town
We all vowed to search until this child was found

Six days missing and Jessica is still not home
Then the announcement came on t.v., radios and phones
A small child's body was found not far away
It was not intact so please at your posts stay

It was little Jessica's body that they had now found
Everyone was silent except tears as they hit the ground
So little and young, innocent, sweet and now dead
The person who did this is very disturbed up in the head

In Heaven now is forever where Jessica will be
A tiny little angel with wings for all to see
No longer afraid of the devil that stole her life
We'll never stop searching for the one who caused strife
